This 36x18" original oil painting is inspired by my 2019 visit to Canyonlands National Park. Aware that this arch was known for its bursting colors at sunrise, I woke early to catch the show. However, there were dark clouds that seemed to block any possibility for the sun to embrace this arch with its splendor. Still, I was glad I was alive and well and living a life I was excited for, so I hung around hoping for a brighter day. Sure enough, the clouds broke, and with it, the sun lit up the arch to a vibrant hue. This moment constantly reminds me that though we may be trekking through dark times, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. When that sun should shine it will be far more grand because of the darkness we endured.
